 Google Adsense

Google created a great business model for advertisers and website owners wishing to partner with them to earn income from placing ads on their sites. You have probably noticed on many websites the Google ads placed throughout the site. The ads may be either text or graphical ads and the type of ads generated are determined by the content on the site. For example, if you own a website for your real estate company, the types of ads that would appear on the site would like be mortgage, lending and other related topics.

How You Begin

You would first go to www.googleadsense.com and create an Adsense account. Once this account is set up, you will then be guided through the process of creating your first ads for one or multiple websites.

Once the ads begin appearing on your website (usually within 15 minutes), when visitors go to your site and click on the ads, revenue will be generated. This could be pennies per click on several dollars per click. The amount depends on the value of the keywords. This may not seem like very much but imagine having hundreds, even thousands of visitors on your site on a monthly basis, clicking on ads that will take them to the advertiser's site. The potential to earn a consistent revenue stream is very possible if you market your site effectively. Please read about the different types of marketing on this site to help you in those efforts.

I must warn you...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON YOUR OWN ADS TO GENERATE INCOME! This is considered click fraud and Google will catch you. Your account can be blacklisted and you may never be able to utilize this wonderful tool for your website again. Also, please do not tell friends to go to your site and click on ads for you so that the clicks will not come from your IP address. It is of course ok to tell those people about your new site but if your specifically mention that there are Google ads on the site and that clicking them generates income for you, they may go "click-crazy" and that could spell trouble for you. Google's Terms of Service says the following about this practice:

Clicks on Google ads must result from genuine user interest. Any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions on your Google ads is strictly prohibited. These prohibited methods include but are not limited to repeated manual clicks or impressions, using robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software. Please note that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited.

The importance of traffic cannot be overemphasized. Google Adsense can be one of several elements in your marketing mix that can create a successful and profitable website or blog for your business.
